Multiple QB’s Visiting The Jaguars
According to an anonymous source, via ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter, the Jacksonville Jaguars will be playing host to multiple QB draft prospects. Among them is the former Hesiman trophy winner, Johnny Football, or Manziel. Manziel flew in to Jacksonville just yesterday and is expected to visit the teams’ facilities later on in the day. The Jaguars, who own the third overall draft pick in the impending 2014 NFL Draft, will have more than just Manziel visiting. Quarterbacks by the name of Blake Bortles (who could ever forget his name?), Teddy Bridgewater (who will be visiting with the Vikings next Monday or Tuesday, according to Schefter), Derek Carr, and Jimmy Garappolo (fun name to say; try it!) will also be visiting with the Jaguars over the next week. The Jaguars will not be the first NFL team that Manziel meets with. Manziel has already met with the New England Patriots last month and met with Vikings coach Mike Zimmer following Manziel’s pro day. Manziel completed a visit with the Oakland Raiders on Monday. Manziel was projected to go 8th overall to the Minnesota Vikings in Kiper’s latest mock draft. However, the Jaguars, who finished just 4-12 last season (which was their third consecutive losing season), would not hesitate drafting Manziel third if Manziel impresses the Jaguars. There’s been a lot of hype around Johnny Football since ESPN first showed highlights of him in his freshman year at Texas A&M, and there seems to be a great debacle between NCAAF/NFL fans & experts on whether he will be able to be as successful in the pros as he was in college.
NOTE: The Jaguars will also be visited by the number one overall [linebacker] draft prospect in the upcoming draft (via Mel Kiper), Khalil Mack. Mack will meet with the St. Louis Rams later on in the week, according to Schefter’s anonymous source. The St. Louis Rams draft one slot ahead of the Jaguars as they possess the second overall draft pick in the upcoming draft.
